Initial consultation

When you contact us, either by phone, email, Instagram, or Facebook, we will set up a free, no-obligation initial consultation with one of our Project Consultants. This will give you an opportunity to get to know who we are and how we approach home renovations. It will also give us a chance to learn about you and your vision so we can be the best partner possible.

We know starting a project like this can be difficult. We take the time to explain the steps in home renovations and answer all your questions – even questions you didn’t know you had yet!

This introductory consultation begins with in-depth questions about not only the project you have in mind but also your motivations, concerns, and expectations. You’ll probably want to know more about living through a renovation project and working with our company. We’ll discuss ideas for your space, preliminary budgets, timelines, designs, and, of course, our one-of-a-kind ‘Comprehensive Project Assessment’ (CPA).

The goal of our Initial Consultation is to align the scope of work with your budget before proceeding with the CPA.

CPA (Comprehensive Project Assessment)

One of the most vital steps in home renovations is developing our CPA. The CPA is made up of three key components that any renovation project needs in order to be successfully executed. These components are:

These provide the essential information you need to make an informed decision and ensure a smooth renovation experience. We avoid inaccurate and risky ‘estimates’. 

The Comprehensive Project Assessment is much more than a quote. By eliminating all ambiguity and being thorough at the outset, you will avoid disappointment at the culmination of the project.

Inside the CPA you will find a detailed project scope. This scope tells the story, front to back, of your renovation project. It includes all the steps and details for each stage of the home renovation process. The scope tells you everything that’s included, along with what isn’t. That means no surprises halfway through your project!

Best of all, it’s fully customizable. If you decide to fine-tune or scale back a portion of the project, we can  make adjustments and know exactly what the cost will be and how this will affect the timeline. We don’t proceed until you are comfortable.

Design & discover

To ensure an accurate CPA, it’s imperative to have a clear understanding of what we’re creating with our home renovation process. Design plays a pivotal role, extending beyond mere AutoCAD floor plans. We meticulously craft designs for your cabinetry, fireplaces, built-ins, bathrooms, and wall features, incorporating any custom elements required. Any deviations from the original scope and budget will be explained clearly before moving to the next step. 

Often, we collaborate with engineers to obtain drawings for wall removals, as well as BCIN or architectural drawings tailored to your specific needs. Whether you already have your own interior designer or are still looking for the right person to bring your vision to life, we’ll be by your side every step of the way.

Once the design phase is reviewed and approved, we move on to what we call the Discovery Phase. This involves multiple site visits with our trade partners to ensure thoroughness and pre-empt any surprises. We conduct site meetings with structural engineers, plumbers, electricians, fireplace technicians, HVAC specialists, and any other experts essential to your project. This collaborative approach fosters accuracy and alignment among all involved.

Upon completion of the Design and Discovery phases, we can finalize your bespoke CPA. This allows you to review the precise cost of your project before making a commitment.

The contract

It’s important to have everything written down to ensure everyone is on the same page. Signing contracts doesn’t have to be stressful; we take the time to explain everything clearly, including timelines, payment schedules, what we are responsible for, what you as the homeowner are responsible for, and our terms/conditions.

Your project is now scheduled! The next step in our full house renovation process involves finalizing any outstanding selections & finishes. Even the simplest renovation projects can involve many finishing selections. Consider factors such as paint colours, tiles, trim profiles, fixtures – the list goes on. 

While this may seem like a challenging task, especially while staying on budget, we pride ourselves on our ability to simplify and assist every step of the way. We do this with our unique Allowance Sheet system. You will have the opportunity to meet several times with vendors,  designers and decorators to help with all your beautiful choices. They will guide you through selections to keep you on style and budget.

Before our crew arrives to commence work, we ensure you’re acquainted in advance with your new Foreman and Project Manager. At our pre-construction meeting, we delve into the logistical and dynamic aspects of your project. This includes considerations such as the presence of children, house guests, pets that require special attention,access points, staging material locations, the use of your driveway, and any specific requests you may have about your home. 

This meeting also provides your dedicated Project Manager with an opportunity to thoroughly review the scope of work within your home, making necessary preparations to ensure a seamless start on day one. This proactive approach sets the stage for us to be considerate and respectful guests in your home throughout the home renovation process.

Construction

Your project is officially underway! This is where our expertise truly shines. We don’t just manage your house; we prioritize you and your family every step of the way. It’s been quite a journey to reach this point, and now it’s your time to sit back and let us handle all the hard work. Rest assured the meticulous planning and preparation will pave the way for a seamless renovation experience, ensuring everything unfolds just as envisioned.

Moreover, this exit meeting provides an ideal platform to review the warranty details, finalize any remaining payments, and express our heartfelt gratitude for the privilege of working with you.
